AS POSTED IN MARCH23rd BULLETIN: THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE IN LIGHT OF THE NEW EVANGELIZATION Recent correspondence from the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization at the Vatican says the following: Among the goals of the New Evangelization is to make more central the Sacrament of Penance. To this end, we propose to maximize the Season of Lent as the time most fitting to live the experience of evangelization in the light of this Sacrament. An initiative entitled 24 Hours for The Lord (from 12:30 p.m. On March 28 to 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, March 29, local time) will be presided over by Pope Francis with a penitential celebration in St. Peters Basilica during which the Holy Father will be available to administer the sacrament of Penance. At the conclusion of this celebration, confessions will continue to be heard in a number of churches in Rome during Eucharistic Adoration. These churches will remain open to accommodate individual penitents who wish to encounter The Lord and experience His mercy. The universal Church is invited to participate in this initiative. In order to be in union with Pope Francis at this time, the Sacrament of Penance will be offered during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at AssumptionParishBay De Verde from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. And Corpus Christi Parish Northern Bay from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. On Friday, March 28. This can be a moment of Grace for the people of our Diocese to experience Gods love and mercy during the Lenten season.
