((‘ASAN ANG TSINELAS KO!!)) This has been going on for some time. My flip-flops going somewhere without me. With the house full, it’s a mad, mad scene in front of the main door when we are all inside. Nine people means 9 pairs of tsinelas, right? Not really. The apong has 3 pairs of flip-flops, his mom has 2, the imeldefic missus has 2 plus 2 pairs of leather sandals, I have 2 pairs and so on.. You would think that with all these tsinelas flip-flopping around, I wouldn’t have to worry about going barefoot. Think again.. When a family member goes out the door, he/she wears the first pair he/she sees. When the next fellow/fella goes out, the same story. Add to this merry mix the pamangkins who live in a unit just across the street. They have the habit of coming over barefoot, and wearing any available flip-flops when it’s time to go home. Kuya Nissan’s shoe size is one-and- a- half larger than mine, but this does not stop him from grabbing my tsinelas when he’s around. A work day and it’s pouring? You can bet your pisong duling that he’d be wearing MY flipflops.. his leather shoes safe and dry inside his bag. Imagine my tsinelas hitting the streets of Makati without me! Aba, buti pa ang tsinelas ko at laging nakakapamasyal sa Central Business District ng Pilipinas! This leaves me with two choices – go barefoot or wear one of the Apong’s tiny floppers. “Why rant and rave? Just buy a new pair, you silly (49 y.old) boy,” sez Mang Juan, as he finished off his second bowl of the pancit lomi I cooked for my b-day. Yeah, right, Mang J. Getting a new pair does not really change things much. The dialogue just becomes: “SANAMAGAN, Mga Kasambahay! Asan na ang BAGONG TSINELAS ko?!!” Oh, well, at least Daddy Lolo gets back his old pair.. kung di pa nasakyod ng ibang paa! :D :D
