AT LAST VICTOR LAR JOINS PLATEAU GUBER RACE After much persuasion and consultations by his kismen, Senator Victor Lar has at last joined the governorship race of Plateau State with a promise to turn the state around in within four years of assumption of office. The Senator said that his ambition to govern the state was guided by his impatience with injustice and his being a stickler for equity. Lar, a PDP Senator, representing Plateau South Senatorial District, said this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja yesterday. He said that this philosophy combines with his belief that call to service was a trust and covenant with the electorate, which should be guided by the fear of God. ``I am impatient with injustice and a stickler for equity and justice. ``I also believe that call to service is a trust and covenant with the people, which cannot be divorced from service to God” ``I stand for the peace, progress, prosperity and unity of all the ethnic groups and religions in Plateau,’’ he said. Lar who is also an ordained Pastor, said he prayed to God about his ambition and heard from Him that it is well before taking the decision to contest. ``I prayed to God and heard from Him that it is well before taking the decision to aspire,’’ he said. He said that he came into the gubernatorial race with a five-Point Agenda which covers the tourism, mining, education, agriculture and health sectors, which he believes can move Plateau forward. ``I intend to develop the solid minerals sector to a level that has never before been witnessed in the history of Plateau by tapping its vast array of solid mineral resources. ``A state of emergency will immediately be declared in the education sector by deliberately channeling resources to address glaring manpower and infrastructure challenges. ``We will encourage religious tourism where people of different faith will be at peace with one another and Plateau will also serve as a regional centre for distribution of the gospel, among others,’’ he said. The Senator said that every election has its constitution and going by the 1999 constitution, former governor Joshua Dariye and Gov. Jonah Jang from Central and Northern zones, respectively, emerged. He said it was naturally the turn of his Southern Zone to produce the next state governor in 2015 because the average Plateau man knows about the essence of equity and fairness in rotation. ``At no time did Plateau people ever sit down to decide on rotation of the governorship among the senatorial zones but a gravitational force has always and will push voters in that direction. ``So I believe that the South will have their turn this time around; the average Plateau man believes in equity and justice and knows that rotation exists and knows its essence,’’ Lar said.
