ATTENTION ALL: More and more I am getting calls from homeowners discussing options for injured animals on their property! Many of them calling because they have spoken to other rehabilitators who are recommending medications go into food they are putting out for these animals!!! They vary from, Squirrels to deer.... PLEASE, at No time is this acceptable advise.....without monitoring situation...who is getting....dosage....and more importantly.....DEER are NOT to be fed anyway....but whether you agree or not...when deer are hit by cars in many locations, tags for human consumption are given out. ....If you have already medicated w antibiotics or antiparasitics ....these medications can KILL someone! A small cut in a shoulder of a deer, why looks repulsive to you! That animal will keep clean! Your intervention before debilitation will give him diarrhea, dehydration, allergic reactions, death!!! Equally important, EACH species has specific sensitivities to ALL meds. You cant guarantee that it will be given to right animal.......and if you can.......You are surely to close and not letting wild be wild! Please do your homework like in all professions, we are not all in it for the right reasons!
