ATTENTION: Fellow FIRST YEAR ENGINEERS (and friends who unfortunately are not eligible for this but are welcome to enjoy): Close your LON-CAPA tab right now. If you haven’t started, I’m praying for you (although hmu if you need help!) It is likely that some of you had very little idea about this but FIRST YEAR REP ELECTIONS are this coming TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH and I’m here to convince you briefly why you should vote for me. So who am I? My name’s Vic, there’s a 50-50 chance you’ll spell my last name right if you smash the keyboard with your hand, and I have been referred to as “Scooter Girl” and “Luna Lovegood” (???why???) more often in these last few weeks than by name. I write phenomenal haikus, am passionate about bagels, I did a pushup back in 2004, and quantum physics gets me hyped. Nice to meet you. It’s obvious that I come on a bit strong - you could call it a Razor’s edge. I’m not too hard to Handle, I promise I can get a Grip! But it’s true, I am very excited by life. It’s a wonderful time to be alive, and I want to funnel this tireless energy into making first year a vivid one for the entirety of this beautiful community of engineers. I know what it’s like to be up until three in the morning struggling with Maple or LON-CAPA, or that dread with an upcoming three-hour lab (or the two in a row my schedule graced me with.) I also know what it’s like to turn to fellow engineers for help and support, and general empathy, and how awesome that feels. Let me foster that sort of inclusiveness for us, and try and rectify any discrepancies between a RAD first year in Eng and a simply tolerable one. So save yourself the heartache, and give me a Brake! Vote Vic for First Year Rep - more bad puns to come. Have some dignity, have some pineapple pride. JHE LOBBY, TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH, 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM Stay safe and make good choices.
