ATTENTION: This is to everyone in the community, and if your loved ones do not have social media, which some that werent at the last meeting didnt and wasnt aware of what was, is and still is going on. Let me be the first to tell you that EVERY Monday night we have a fire meeting (OPEN TO PUBLIC) also, the last Thursday of EVERY month is a PUBLIC board meeting, meaning ALL PUBLIC welcomed. But nine times out of ten when it comes to how they spend yalls tax dollars and how they feel about WE firemen, they will go into what they call EXECUTIVE session (I call it to scared to face the public and firemen.) Yes, they had Mrs. Dee Deville fired this morning FOR NO REASON other then politely standing up to them. She is, and was one of the best we had in office. They had 25 members on the department now they have like 12 and only 3% of those firemen respond to any calls. Thank GOD for Holiday Village and Ruby Kolin Fire Depts for having to run calls all the way out here and cover this area. The board acts as if we are trash and spend the money WE earn and the tax payers pay as they see fit. Yes we are behind the military memorial 100% but one of our female firefighters who works 3 jobs, has children, animals, husband, home and grandchildren to tend to stated that she has within 8 months time ran over 230 + emergencies and was told by the President of the board That was irrelevant When we try to atleast have a pat on the back we get Were trouble makers.; I have never seen anyone more pationate about cleaning up a department and community than David Gunter was, yet they treated him as if he mas mud on their feet until he was forced to resign before they ruined his 18 year career as a paid professional firemen at another dept. Today DVFD had a structure fire (house fire) only 2 Deville firemen responded to someones home and belongings burning to the ground. BOTH of those firemen were taken by ambulance to the E.R. and fire trucks left on scene with no drivers. People wake up, 2 or 3 firemen killing themselves isnt gonna help this community. Think about what if it were you and yours?? Yes, we are volunteers but we also have jobs. If our own board doesnt support us are pat us on the back who will??? We kill ourselves to not let you down, because if we dont pass the rating (which at this point dont count on it) your insurance goes through the roof!!!!! Over $200,000 was spent on a new station that is hollow inside, several thousand spent on a plaque with ALL board member names on it. The only thing we agree on is military memorial. WE ARE BROKE FOLKS!!!! They are blowing yalls money. I ask that EVERYONE come to the meeting, before we dont have a fire dept. And peoples lives and property is at state. The public votes this board in, The public can vote them out!!! GOD lay hands on the remaining firemen killing themselves for free and lay hands on the 2 that were rushed to the hospital trying to save someones home!
