ATTN: Change in dialing DSN Phone Numbers The grace period for using Telephone prefix 0505 to dial Army posts from commercial phones will end Dec. 1, 2013. Prefix 05033 and the last six digits of a Defense Switch Network phone, also known as a DSN line, will be the only means to make off post and cellular phone calls to on post. “Our ability to expand the DSN network without having mixed dial plans is now limited, because our telephone service provider is nearly sold out of numbers for the 0505 area code,” said Col. Paul H. Fredenburgh, 1st Signal Brigade commander. Air Force and Navy bases will not be affected by the prefix change. The new prefix works by dialing 05033 and the last six digits of a DSN line, said Christopher L. Hines, a network technician with the 1st Signal Brigade. The new prefix simplifies the process of making off post to on post telephone calls, said Fredenburgh.
