AUDITION NOTICE ‘The Three Sisters’ by Anton Chekov Auditions: Sunday June 8th in the bar at the theatre from 10.am – 12.30 pm. and Monday June 9th in the bar at 7.30 pm. Production dates Wednesday 12th to Saturday 15th November 2014 The play is set at the turn of the twentieth century in pre-revolutionary Russia in a provincial capital. The three Prozorov sisters constantly dream of escaping their provincial life and exchanging it with life in Moscow. The play is animated, funny and deeply sad by turns. Characters: Andrey Prozorov: head of the family since his father’s death a year before the play starts. Playing age 30+ Natalya Ivanovna: his fiancée, later his wife and mother to his son who her world revolves around. Playing age 20+ His sisters: Olga: the eldest of the sisters who works hard at her school but is worn out by her diligence. Playing age 28 Masha: the middle sister who slowly develops a romantic attachment to Vershinin. Playing age 26 Irina: the youngest of the sisters who admires but does not love Tuzenbakh and suffers his loss when he is killed in duel. Playing age 20. Fyodor Kulygin: a teacher in a gymnasium and husband of Masha. Playing age 30+ Alexandr Vershinin: Lieutenant-Colonel and battery commander ill-fatedly romantically attached to Masha. Playing age 40+ Baron Tuzenbakh: an army Lieutenant, suitor to Irina, later killed in a duel. Playing age 29 Vasily Solyony: an army doctor nearing and ready for retirement. Playing age 60 Aleksey Fedotik } Second Lieutenant in his first posting as is Rode. Vladimir Rode } both young men enjoy the lighter side of army life. Playing age 20+ Ferapont: an old man, a district council watchman. Playing age 60+ Anfisa: an old woman, nanny/nursemaid to the family. Playing age 80 A Maid Audition pieces will be available for collection from the office in May prior to auditions. Please note you do not have to be a Bob Hope Theatre member to audition, but you will be required to join the theatre membership if you are cast. Membership fees are collected at the first rehearsal.
