AUGUST GUEST WRITER SESSION.. hosted by the Abuja Writers Forum, features two budding poets Crystyn Okeke and B.M. Nagidi. Ms Okeke is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where she studied English & Literary Studies. Her poems have been aired in some of the leading stations in this part of the world, and published in the national Newspapers. Her works have been published in over a dozen of International and National Poetry Anthologies. In October 2013, her poem, Addiction`s Affliction, which was translated into a movie flick, was nominated for an award at the Eko International Film Festival in Lagos State, Nigeria. Dance of the Estranged, another poem of hers, has been selected by Toni Payne to be performed as a poetry drama. Nkemjika is also the author of the bestseller poetry collection on the amazon platform, Beyond Dialogismos. She has been invited to the Fidelity Bank Creative Writing, Lagos, and Garden City Literary Festival, Port Harcourt Workshops in July and October 2012 respectively, and the Ebedi International Creative Writers` Residency Programme in Iseyin, Oyo State, in 2014. BM Nagidi is a Poet and a Civil Servant with Niger State Book Development Agency as Book Planning Officer under Book and Development Unit and also doubles as the Assistant Facility Manager. He is the present Treasurer of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Niger State Branch. Before now he was the PRO I in the 2008/2010 Executive, an Ex-officio before he was elevated to the post of an Assistant Secretary in the 2010/2012 Executive “Slaying the Wayfarer” a collection of poesies is his first title published in November, 2011. Currently his book is being used as a study material in the department of English Language, Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, Minna. Some of his poems have found their ways into the National Dailies and International Magazines (Pulsar, UK), also in Fireflies, an anthology of poems. An ardent follower of the REGENERATION School, his campaign towards the development of children in the society is translated into tireless involvement in programs that are designed to shape or redirect their perspectives towards civic responsibilities and securing sound educated minds. BM Nagidi has been in the organisational body of Annual Schools Carnival of Art and Festival of Songs (ASCAFS), since 2002, which is aimed at moulding and remoulding the thoughts and encouraging the formation of reading culture in young minds. He also participated in the organisation and execution of the Read-to-a-Child Campaign designed by the Niger State Government to inculcate reading culture among school children and co-edited the publication of the report published in 2009. BM Nagidi is a mentor in one of the hatcheries of literary inclined minds, Hill Top Art Foundation Minna, where he mentors children on creative writing. The Guest Writer Session holds at Nanet Suites, Ekiti House, off ThisDay Dome in the Central Business District, Abuja by 4pm. There will be live music and raflle draw for book prizes.
