AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry will travel to Missouri on August 29 to tout the low taxes that allow hardworking families and employers to keep more of what they earn, and help make Texas’ economy a national example for job creation. Ahead of the governor’s trip, a 30-second TV spot begins running today in several Missouri markets, showcasing the opportunities and freedom available to families and businesses thanks to Texas’ smart, conservative fiscal policies. The TV ad features Texans from all walks of life – from small business owners to doctors and top researchers – and will run on stations in St. Louis, Springfield and Columbia-Jefferson City, including KMOV, KSDK, KTVI, KOLR, KOZL, CNBC, FOX News, MSNBC, CNN, ESPN and the Discovery Channel. The nine-day, $106,400 TV ad buy and the governor’s trip are paid for by TexasOne – no state tax dollars will be used for his travel and accommodations, or for the ad buy. While in Missouri, Gov. Perry will share Texas’ economic success story at meetings with employers and business leaders, a luncheon at the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and a speech in Chesterfield. Additionally, TexasWideOpenForBusiness will feature a special section targeting Missouri businesses and employers who want to learn more about the Lone Star State’s low taxes, smart regulations, fair courts and skilled workforce. Texas has no personal income tax, and according to the Tax Foundation, is one of the top 10 best state tax climates in the nation. Missouri levies a personal income tax ranging from 1.5 to 6 percent. TexasOne is a public-private partnership that markets Texas nationally and internationally as a prime business destination. To view the TV ads, please visit texaswideopenforbusiness.
