AVINASH SINGH SPEECH................ "I know that you can sense it, I know that you can feel it and I know that you can see it. I know that you can see that the People’s National Movement is on the Road to Victory bringing home the Chaguanas West Constituency. Firstly let me take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for the ability and strength to represent the people of Chaguanas West. I am very grateful to my parents, family members, relatives and campaign team who have believed in me and supported me thus far. I want to thank Dr. the Honorable Keith Rowley for granting me the opportunity to forge a closer relationship with him and the People’s National Movement for the future of our twin island republic. Dr. Rowley …..You are a true leader and I fully endorse you as the next Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in a short time from now. To the PNM Executive and members as a whole, I thank you for welcoming me with open arms and I know that I can count on your continued support in the upcoming path to victory for the Chaguanas West Constituency. It is indeed a great honor and privilege for me to be the chosen candidate for the People’s National Movement for this Bye-Election, an election we all know in our hearts, minds and soul will be written in the history books of our country, as the one that redefines the political landscape of Trinidad and Tobago. And one that will ensure victory to the People’s National Movement, in bringing home the Chaguanas West Constituency. It is with a renewed and heightened sense of patriotism as a young citizen of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago that I, like so many young people have answered the call by our Political Leader to join the crusade in making a change in our beloved country, I accept this candidacy, not only as a great opportunity but as an even greater responsibility. The road ahead my brothers and sisters is not going to be an easy one as that ruthless and relentless cabal, are becoming more and more arrogant and intoxicated with the powers of the office of the government. This my people is about to change, and it begins with me. As your Member of Parliament, I will not permit the Government to starve Chaguanas West of resources, as has been promised by the Honorable Prime Minister, if Chaguanas West does not return to her fold. Instead, I will use the 1976 Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to ensure that we are not deprived of our just entitlements. Trinidad and Tobago needs you the citizens to heal its bleeding wounds that don’t seem to get better as the days go by. As the great John F. Kennedy said “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” I will use the remaining 22 months in the life of the existing Government to prepare you, my constituents for the next coming of the People’s National Movement, as the Government of Trinidad and Tobago My mission for the Chaguanas West is as follows: • We will establish and maintain close collaboration with all Councillors and Municipal Corporations in the Constituency. • We will strengthen the social and physical infrastructure of the Constituency. Modern Community Centers to be built and old centers to be upgraded, roads, drainage systems with sidewalks, modern recreational facilities in every community of Chaguanas West - Felicity, Pierre Road, Endeavour, Charlieville, Orchard Gardens, Warrenville, Bujucal, Munroe Road, Frederick Settlement, Caroni Village, La Paille Village, Ibis Gardens, Boot Hill, Petersfield, Warner Village, • We will actively promote the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the peoples of Chaguanas West, paving the way for an exciting interchange of Festivals. • We will encourage the publication of Community Newsletters. • We will develop the Caroni Swamp to be discovered by the urban dwellers in the North, South, East and West for Hiking Trails, Boating Canals, Picnic Grounds, Bird Watching our Scarlet Ibis, discovering its mangrove subsystems, so that Felicity and its access to this wetland, becomes a nationwide and world class Tourist Attraction. • We will enhance the landscape by: o Constructing the one mile extension of the Chaguanas Main Road, to the Cunupia River; o construction of a secure, air-conditioned Boarding Station for a 100 person river ferry on the Cunupia River; o construction of a secured parking facility for 1,000 cars (a mere 10 acres of land); o construction of a secure air conditioned solar powered Ferry Transfer Terminal in the Gulf of Paria, one mile offshore, where passengers from Chaguanas West and from all of Central Trinidad can access the fast ferry to the Port of Spain and the San Fernando Ferry Terminals. • We will sanction for the establishment of an environment friendly waste disposal facility using first world technology. • We will support modern technology and agricultural methods for use by farmers on arable land in Chaguanas West. • We will promote the the zoning of areas for residential, commercial and institutional purposes all supported by the transport, information and communications infrastructure now readily available. This is my mission to accomplish my vision beginning on the 30th July 2013. This vision will manifest the Chaguanas West Constituency as a model constituency throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Not only, with physical infrastructure, but an emphasis on my people and their development; which plays a keen role in mitigating our societal ills, coupled with my ideals, morals and ethics engraved in my mind, heart and soul, I will do all in my power to be accountable and transparent to you my people. I want you all who have taken the time and effort to come to this gathering to know, that I am the difference that we a nation, needs at this point in our history. The world is changing rapidly and relentlessly and so are the people who inhabit it. Like you my brothers and sisters, I to desire to live in a place where there is justice for the victims and there is punishment for the crimes committed against the weak and vulnerable in society. We yearn to have due process in all government and non-governmental offices throughout this land, we thirst to see the day when we can stand proud as a nation and say that we are able to feed ourselves. (personal experience) Ladies and gentlemen, I bring with me here today, not just youth with a passion, but a youth with a passion and purpose. I would like everyone present here today to really appreciate and fully understand the great work that the PNM has done since its establishment in this country on January 1956 and will continue to do through the Chaguanas West constituency. Our political leader, Dr. the Honorable Keith Rowley is such a leader who recognizes when the needs of the population are changing and our political leader my dear ladies and gentlemen is the leader that will steer the reigns of victory in this country in the next General Election. My dear ladies and gentleman, I am deeply touched by the PNM’s family and I want you all to know that I am an individual that has taken the responsibility to carry the Chaguanas West mantle into the realm of the PNM on the 29th of July on Trinbagonian soil. The heat is on ladies and gentlemen, I can smell success already, I can see the PNM banner in victory on that faithful night, where we bring home the Chaguanas West seat and bring it home to where it belongs. I pledge to you my unwavering love and commitment for this journey ahead of us, our opposition is fierce, but I want to say to you here and now that we are much fiercer than any paid political campaign strategy that the opposition can get. For we muster the people of this land with the founding fundamental principles of the PNM, (that great all inclusive political institution) we seek your franchise based on our display of integrity, transparency and accountability to you, the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. “ I will always believe that service to my community and my country is my duty. I believe that if we want real change, positive change that makes a difference, we must be the architects of that change. I believe that my generation must ensure that our country’s best days are ahead of us. To achieve this we must all believe in a nation that is built on strong values. That struggle must begin now. Join with me let us show them that corruption can be replaced with fair play, deceit with truth, discrimination with equality and hate with love. I believe that I am one of many, a movement of young people determined to ignite that passion for patriotism. We are the revolution.” “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” Mahatma Gandhi once said. My brothers and sisters, be that change!...save tomorrow….take action today!... Give me that chance that I deserve as a son of the soil of the Chaguanas west constituency and who better to represent you than your own neighbor. The battle ahead may be tough, but victory is the PNMs, I leave you with the motto from the PNM founding fathers, “Great is the PNM and IT SHALL PREVAIL.” I Thank you."
