AZ & NM RESIDENTS: Wolves need you to speak out at public hearings - TopicsExpress

AZ & NM RESIDENTS: Wolves need you to speak out at public hearings to save them from extinction. The Fish and Wildlife Service will soon release a Draft Environmental Impact statement for rule changes that will determine the future of our Lobos. There are only 83 wolves in the wild in New Mexico and Arizona, and the proposed rules will likely have provisions that make it easier to kill them and dim their chances for recovery. There should be some good provisions too that need to be supported. There will be two public hearings about the Environmental Impact Statement, and both are in places where wolves need all the friends they can get (sign-up to carpool at link below). Deets: AZ hearing: 6-9 p.m. Aug. 11 at Hon-Dah Conference Center, 777 Highway 260, near Pinetop, AZ, (3 miles outside Pinetop at the junction of Hwy 260 and Hwy 73). NM hearing: 6-9 p.m. Aug. 13 at Truth or Consequences Civic/Convention Center, 400 W. 4th Ave., Truth or Consequences. A critical mass of supporters could turn the tide for Mexican wolves. Please save the date, spread the word, and bring a friend!
