Abdel Saadan Hatem Bamehriz COMPARING THE ISIS (NOW ISLAMIC STATE) OF 2011 + TO THE MEDINA OF MOHAMMED OF 620 +: IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF The Besieged Medina In 625 Mohammed was on the fringes of collapse and total defeat but emerged out safe after an inter-tribal difference among the pagan Arabian Tribes attacking him caused the alliance to fall apart changing the Medina into a small statehood and an identity. Two years on Mohammed took his next big step employing the traditional Arab Tribes pilgrimage to Mecca as a tool to force his own people recognize his Medina State (as a new form of a tribal identity) and its right to enter Mecca signing a deal. By the end of the second year Mohammed entered Mecca in a 10,000 strong army and destroyed all the idols of all Arab Tribes lined on and around the Kaaba (the stone building dressed in black which Pilgrims circle around) and imposing his own rules on the desert Arabian tribal main meeting site changing now to a city state and a well know defiant force. The Persians handed over Sanaa (the main capital in the Arabian Peninsula then) to Mohammeds control and many from South Arabian areas and the North Arab tribes poured after that into Medina allowing Mohammed to march in an army of 30,000 men against the Eastern roman Empire and its proxy tribal wall; declaring himself as a de facto ruler of the entire Arabia. Few months before huge pilgrimage 0f 110,000 and his death, Mohammed sent letters to kings and rulers around his state calling them to join Islam, now declaring himself a superior state. Simply, the Besieged Medina of 625 has became a unitary state controlling Arabia in 630; hence that was the time of camel travel and small arms. The most powerful empires in Persia and Eastern Roman Territories were fighting each other and never imagined that one of them will be wiped out and the other shrink into a third of its size at the hands of the nomadic armies within less than ten years. ISIS (IS) Inside the Arab Spring and Emerging from Indifferences Like the emergence of Medina, ISIS was on the run until the Arab Spring came to effect in 2011 gave it an opportunity to act new. We all know by this moment that the fearful Saudis played a major role in BLOWING the Arab Spring up – a matter that was indicated clearly in the congratulation message sent by king Abdulla of Saudi Arabia to gen Assisi on his election as president – and without realizing allowed the more dangerous and more appealing to their people ISIS to rise from its ashes. Muslim Brothers multi failures and the indifferences between them and the new democratic forces as well as indifferences between the 8 OIL and GAS rich nations surrounding the Gulf created the best situation for ISIS to emerge. Employing the principles of the popular desires for better and real government and the chronic corruption that did not concede defeat (with Malki as one of the IDOLS of it) ISIS started its unstoppable march on the Mecca of today (oil and gas) heading to change the rules of the game and march on one of the big Gulf nations (Iran or KSA). By then, there is no doubt that Washington DC, Moscow, Delhi, Bruxelles and Beijing will receive letters from the new ruler Emir Al-Baghdadai. What motivated me to look at the picture this way was the declaration of IS newly published with a map, which included half of Earth, as well as the threat to block any FIFA activities in Qatar (considered now part of the IS). The state division names given on the map published by ISIS, show that the emerging power is good at reading and employing history while taking the current facts into that employment. To be honest potential for the emergence of IS as victor in a sweeping manner is very serious and most likely. The Arab Tribes of Mohammeds times are the same but with flags and more wealth while the south Arabians are suffering the same situation they suffered thin – lack of controlling government and poverty. In addition, the fact that many nations on Earth value the lives of soldiers more than the lives of all citizens. Hi-tech war may be possible to defend a well fortified small enclave like the State of Israel but will fail in taking on IS soft and swift movement. Will IS Win the War and Take on the Gulf? All factors at the time are on their side. The Gulf states (except UAE and Oman) with Iran suffer corruption and the elites of all are so far away from the people, especially the youth. Iran has been treating the Arabstan population badly in a way that will make them support the marching jihadists and envision them as liberators. Although Iraq is what will make IS or break it, the Malkis army super fast collapse is playing in the hands of ISIS (IS). The situation will be more motivating when IS attacks and blows up a major Shia Shrine since the Arab Spring was killed mainly by sectarian games. Everything plays into the hands of ISIS and makes their march swifter and more decisive by the day. We all know that the Saudi Army will not be more motivated to fight since its doctrine is preached by those founders of Salafi Jihadist. The Saudi Regime is in a position that makes the Islamic Sharia slogan played there a reversed tool in the eyes of many who – with much reasonable grounds and indicators – would see ISIS more representative of Islam. The CIA would have missed the opportunity to expose any corruption among the ISIS ranks and so would have the regional secret services. It seems like deadlock and that KSA and Muslim Brothers/Qatar rival camps – motivated by keeping failed Islam in charge – joined hands to abuse and destroy the Arab Springs as a call for FREE SECULAR DEMOCRATIC states, just to hand over all their rules and wealth to the more representative ISIS control. The Major Factor that Makes ISIS Potential Victor I doubt any emergence of the IS map in East Africa, the Balkans of India as the nations there are motivated to fight for their different options of statehood, however, the area from Pakistan in the East to Mauritania in the west and from Dagestan in the north to Yemen in the south are very likely to be overwhelmed. The failure of the Arab Spring is the major factor that gives ISIS the uppermost hand. If you ask many including me if we would stand up for ISIS; the answer will be shocking. No, why should I? is what many will say. The reasons are variant but all will be centered on the current living styles and governance. A Syrian, an Iraqi, an Egyptian, a Libyan or a Yemeni would tell you that the country is corrupt, mismanaged and out of real control and whoever would sweep the power centers and provide security and food will be adored by most. A free young woman or man from the Gulf CC and Iran would tell you that they are suppressed and silenced and ISIS will not be different than what they have so who cares. On the other hand many of the religious would see the ISIS as standing up in the faces of KAFFIRS which is hope preached to them in the mosques once a week at least. PERSONALLY, I DO NOT CARE. I MAY NOT LIKE ISIS BUT I DO NOT LIKE OTHER CORRUPT AND RADICALIZED GROUPS. WHEN IT COMES TO MY NOSE, THEN I HAVE NO OPTION BUT FIGHT BACK.
