About 1:45pm yesterday afternoon, Sunday 13 July 2014, Police were called regarding a plane crash at a private airstrip in Narrikup. It appears the Cessna aircraft was approaching the runway to land when it encountered a crosswind that pushed the aircraft into trees alongside the runway. Police officers from Mount Barker and Albany attended, along with St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel. The pilot and two passengers were able to get out of the crashed plane, two of them with the assistance of St John Ambulance. St John Ambulance took one of the passengers to Albany Health Campus as a precaution.
