About 10 years ago I was at Champs in Irving and Willie Martin walked into my life for the first time. For whatever reason he asked me my birthday, and proceeded to tell me everyone who shared that day with me. Since that day every time i saw him, which was quite often, he remembered it like he always knew me. He was blessed with the best memory, almost not human. We kept in touch and saw each other regularly, and there isnt a more gentle soul out there. His passing is bringing me to tears tonight. He called himself the Master of nothing, but thats not true. He was a master of lasting impressions.
