About 12:30am 29/08/14 a black Alfa Romeo was detected driving in a dangerous manner along the M1 reaching speeds up to 170km/h. Police attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit followed. The vehicle travelled through the suburbs of Figree and Cordeaux Heights, before allegedly reversing into a police vehicle then colliding with a tree in Derribong Drive. The 34 year old driver was arrested after a struggling with police. He was charged with driving in a manner dangerous to the public, police pursuit-not stop-drive dangerously (Skye’s Law), exceed speed limit over 45km/h, assault police, resist/hinder police and refuse to provide urine sample. He was remanded in custody after an appearance at Port Kembla Local Court. He will reappear on 2/09/14.
