About 20 minutes ago I saw a Beagle dog get hit right in front of me as I was heading back to Soquel on Thurber Lane. It was a hit and run! :-( It happened so fast and I wish I got the license plate of the vehicle who ran this poor dog over and then just took off! I think it was a Jeep-like vehicle. I had two dogs with me that I had just taken for a walk and they were quite anxious about it all. A Sheriff was driving a few cars back from when it happened so he was trying to comfort the dog and the dogs owner, a young girl/teen. It happened across from the fire station and a firefighter also came out to help. I know sometimes animals can be hit and the driver is unaware, but I really doubt it in this case. I heard the loud bang and then the howling yelps before I saw the dog, so I really dont believe this person did not know they hit an animal. If that is the case, shame on them for driving off and not caring. It was obviously a tragic accident as the little dog ran out onto the busy road. But to not stop is so cold. All I can say is KARMA and pray that the injuries arent life threatening. So please say a little prayer for this dog.
