About 759 years before the birth of Jesus, God called a man named - TopicsExpress

About 759 years before the birth of Jesus, God called a man named Jonah to go and deliver a message to the Assyrians in the city of Nineveh. These people were long-time enemies of Israel. They were a militant group and very violent. They ravaged the countryside and carried away many people into captivity. Jonah was not very happy with his assignment. He knew that if he spoke the Word God gave him there was a really good chance that the people of this city would heed the message, repent, and change their ways. Jonah disliked these people so much that he didn’t want this to happen so he actually headed in the opposite direction and ran away from his kingdom assignment. Talk about a detour! He headed the wrong way on purpose. He made his way to the Port of Joppa on the Mediterranean Sea. He really ran. But, as the story progresses we learn that Jonah couldn’t hide from God. Eventually, God brought Jonah to a place of obedience and he ultimately went back to where God wanted him in the first place. Jonah learned to follow orders, and he also learned a lesson about God’s Grace at the same time. Join is Sunday, January 4th for Sunday Family Worship and learn more about this exciting story and how God wants to use you too!
