About Sir Dr.Ziauddin Ahmad : Sir Dr.Ziauddin Ahmad, was born in 1877 in the picturesque town of Meerut, India. He was a renowned academician, great philosopher, mathematician as well as a political figure. He was also the longest serving vice chancellor in the history of Aligarh Muslim University. His close association with Sir Syed Ahmad Khan added to his immortal stature and dignity. Sir Dr. Ziauddin Ahmads early years were spent in Meerut but he moved to Aligarh at the age of 12 to join the school section of Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College, during his time in college, he was not only was he an outstanding student but he also actively participated in sports and debate activities. He did his bachelors and D.SC from University of Allahabad and later did his MA in Mathematics from Calcutta University. His interest in Mathematics motivated him to join Trinity College at Cambridge University for an (Honours degrees), where he became the first Indian to receive Sir Isaac Newton Scholarship. His thirst for knowledge took him to Germany and he did his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Gottingen University. After his education, Sir Dr. Ziauddin sometime in Europe, where he visited Paris University in France and Bologna University in Italy for advanced studies in Mathematics. On his return to Aligarh he decided to devote his life to Aligarh Muslim University, which in a way became the limb of Pakistan Movement. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was the founder of Aligarh Muslim University, but it was Sir Dr.Ziauddin Ahmad who made sure that the University continued to grow and provide quality education to the Muslims of the subcontinent. His dream to establish a medical college at Aligarh Muslim University did not materialise in his lifetime, but has come true with the establishment of Ziauddin College of Medicine in Karachi. The grandson of Sir Dr.Ziauddin Ahmad, Dr.Asim Hussain is the Chancellor of Ziauddin University and Chairman of Dr.Ziauddin Hospital. He is working devotedly for humanity and medical education in Pakistan. Sir Dr.Ziauddin Ahmad could rightly be titled as Nabbas-e-Millat as he was the pulse reader of the Muslim nation. He died on December 23rd, 1947 in London, and was buried in Aligarh Muslim University, alongside Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
