About bornpositive.co.uk is a not for profit charity supporting orphan children affected by HIV in Mozambique. Mission To provide the necessary and ongoing after care to HIV orphans being cared for by relatives or siblings in Mozambique. Description Born Positive was inspired by the story of two twin boys, Mysterio and Jacintu. They were born HIV positive and raised from newborn babys in an orphanage located in a rural village in Mozambique. In September 2012 Mysterio died. He was just two years old. Due to unforeseen circumstances Jacintu, the surviving twin, and his 4 year old sister Annabella were taken from the orphanage and sent to live with their grandmother. After visiting them in their new home we were shocked to find the extreme poverty in which they were now living. Amongst this severe poverty and obvious lack of food we also recognised this grandmothers love for her grandchildren and the undenying love that they were showing for her. If only she could provide for their basic needs; food, water, shelter and HIV medication these children would be able to grow up in a loving family home. In February 2013 with the help of our trusted friend and volunteer Leo, who lives in Mozambique, we decided to arrange a delivery of food and basic necessities once a month to the family. By the second delivery we were amazed at the difference it had already made. The children were noticeably happier, healthier and full of life. The improvements our deliveries continue to make to the overall health of Jacintu, Annabella and their grandmother continues to amaze and inspire us. At Born Positive we believe that with the right support, orphan children can enjoy a better quality of life when living with relatives in the structure of a Mozambican home and that an orphanage should be a temporary solution or the absolute last resort. Born Positive continues to support Jacintu and his family and in the near future we hope to expand our philosophy to other children in similar situations. https://facebook/born.pos
