About the Berger vs. Rippetoe debate on ESPN: Rip was right that main site programming is not periodized in any way, and is more just exercising than training. However, to the best of my knowledge, approximately no one who trains to compete in CF uses main site programming. And, since CF defines their training objective as increased work capacity, main site programming WILL probably increase work capacity for most people. People are losing their minds about Berger saying that CF level 1 certifications require only 300 minutes of hands-on instruction. As far as I know, no other mainstream certifications require more than that - including reputable ones like CSCS, ACSM, and USAW. I think CrossFit has a quality control problem. However, if youre going to point a finger as CrossFit, I think you need to point a finger at everyone else. This whole damn industry has a quality control problem, and CrossFit isnt worse than anyone else as far as I can tell, and is probably better than most.
