Above Only Daily Devotional cgmglobal.org/aboveonly (Lire en français: cgmglobal.org/aboveonly/fr) Sunday, July 13 NEVER DEVOURED BY PROSPERITY (2) Matthew 24:45-51 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. -------------------------------------------------------------------- In our text above, Jesus said a faithful and wise servant will do His masters will and take care of the business his master has given him, but the evil servant will be unfaithful with his masters business and will be enjoying himself because his master is delayed in coming. The salvation of souls and the advancement of Gods kingdom is our masters business and He is coming back soon. Are you a faithful and a wise servant? He that winneth souls is wise, Prov.11:30. There will be times we will have to sacrifice pleasure to fulfil Gods purpose. If our utmost focus is on having pleasure at all times, we will sacrifice Gods purpose just to get our pleasure and Gods name will not be glorified. Though Esther was a queen, she did not allow the pleasure of the palace to blind her from standing in faith for the deliverance of Gods people (Gods purpose) when the time came. The trials and pressures of life have a way of making us just want to relax, enjoy ourselves and seek pleasure, but we must not do this at the expense of knowing and fulfilling Gods purpose for our lives. Some trials we go through are to prepare us and position us to fulfil Gods will for our lives, like Joseph. To focus on getting pleasure more than Gods purpose can lead to cutting ourselves out of Gods will for our lives. It can make us lose our fellowship and commitment to God because of trials and pressure. We must continue to deliberately set our hearts on doing our Masters will; whether in good times or in bad times. PRAYER: Receive Gods grace to remain focused on His purpose.
