Above Streets and People A Poem by Daniel McMillan A gentle breeze works through the trees Behind the fluttering leaves the sun is setting beginning in gold announcing to birds the one last insect that can be plucked from the knitting grasses below stuffing the treat in gift-bag jaws then rushing through the untrafficked air to little ones I imagine their quiet lodgings above streets and people with no menacing detachment no dumb and brutal concrete just a welcoming free air that moves feathers and beaks like a wild escalator Bewaring little ones fissures and static places between the abundant air.
