Absolutely amazing day! Just got back from Kirkland, I am already so fortunate that I am able and allowed to do something that I love so dearly. And I am lucky to be working in the best band I could hope for, and triply lucky they put my name on the letterhead. At the annual WBS Best of the Blues Awards, the band was nominated for 7 awards. We got to take home four: Blues Songwriter: CD Woodbury NW Recording: Monday Night Electric Guitar: CD Woodbury Blues Horn: Mike Marinig The CD Woodbury Band set was a joy. And I got to do some singing without worrying about playing guitar (Steve Steve Peterson and Chris Eger already had guitar covered for the stage left band) And I had to *BRING IT* considering the other vocalists on the set: LadyA White, Steve Peterson, Stacy Jones, Chris Eger, Jada Amy. They were all incredible. ... I survived that set because I did something unexpected. :) the only problem is that now that the guys have seen me do it, theyre already talking about doing it more. Next thing I know, Ill put it down long enough and Mike Marinig is gonna be shooting for my guitar spot... :) Too many other incredible musicians and dear friends in music to list. And Ill repeat the last thing I got to say at the podium: watch this space, we will be pitching for the new album very soon. My deep thanks to too many WBS officers, members, and volunteers; most of whom I got to talk with a lot during the day... and I hope that I thanked all of them profusely; and to the staff at the Kirkland Performing Arts Center, for putting on a huge show today. Especially anyone who has done this before and came back... are you into this thrill ride or do you just forget the amount of work after six months or so? The band has had a magic year. Thanks to Kickstarter and every one of our fantastic backers, to Betsie Brown at Blind Raccoon for making us look good and then showing us off... best publicist a musician could dream of, all of the DJs who played our CD (despite the packaging not having a spine... live and learn), to all the writers who took the time to craft their reviews, all the clubs and festivals that have booked us over the past few years, and mostly to all of our fans. The band is nothing without you. My congratulation to all of the nominees and winners. My appreciation and respect to all of the performers tonight. I am so fortunate that I am able and allowed to do something that I love so dearly.
