Absurd home remedies in internet:- Last week I got a female patient 23yrs, accompanied with her mother. From the looks of her face I thought she has got sever tooth pain.when she sat in the dental chair she closed her mouth with her hands and asked me to switch off the fan.As there was powerfailiure at that time I have switched on the fan instead of A.C...the wall mounted fan was directly opposite to the dental chair. I understood the complaint and switched off the fan.her complaint is she has got severe tooth sensitivity, the wind from the fan is giving her severe tooth sensitivity,the severeity is in such a way that she is not even able to open her mouth before a working fan, not able to talk while travelling, not able to sleep under a ceiling fan, not able to take even water under room temperature. I examined her , I found no abnormality in the tooth structure,I asked all the routine questions related to sensitivity and found the reason for her problem.she has read in internet that brushing teeth with mixture of lemonjuice+ hydrogenperoxide +baking soda will make the tooth more whiter, and she has tried it for past 10days. This composition is highly erosive and abrasive, might be good in removing stains in garments and oily kitchen utensils, but in a vital teeth? Some idiot has posted this idea in some home remedies site and this women has followed it.the result is severe sensitivity. i applied topical clinically applied desensitivity liquids and Then I prescribed her desensitivity mouthwash and pastes.after a week she came for review and. Feels better now. Now it s a lesson for others .most of the home remedies for dental in internet is absurd and dangerous too. For general practitioners who read this post-dear doctors u might have faced so many cases like this, plz post ur Expereinces and absurd medical issues on internet, it s our duty to educate and save people .plz spare some time.
