Accepting Christ as your Lord and saviour, means allowing God to rule in your life, so that the kingdom that was stolen from you by the serpant in Eden may be restored back in your life again, and live like a king and have authority over every thing and situation, because Jesus is the word that was used by the King (God our father) to create everything; Heaven and Earth including everything that is in them, which means you can also use this word on any situation.
