According to Mondays CBS Chicago News, a family in Chicago, Ill., lost their elderly dog to a gunshot wound after police officers entered their fenced yard and opened fire on their pet. It was Terry Taylors 10-year-old Italian mastiff, Castro, who died after being shot on Monday morning. Taylor described what happened in the yard of his home at 59th and Martin Luther King Drive: The police ran in my yard, opened the gate and shot my dog,” The police officers had been chasing after an armed suspect who allegedly held someone up at Washington Park - they believed that the man had entered Taylors fenced yard. The man that the police had been searching for was never in Taylors yard - he had been hiding nearby, beneath some stairs.
