According to Thomas Madzivhe, general manager of the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), the organisation is strengthening its collaboration with and has linked its IT systems to the SA Revenue Service, border police and customs as part of a pilot project to “curb the permeation of dubious products into the country”. “We regulate a large scope, from disinfectants to cars, televisions and so on. And this is one way to supplement our day-to-day market surveillance activities, in order to deal with non-compliance,” Madzivhe stated.
