According to a study recently published in journal eLife, researchers have been able to restore hearing in mice with noise induced hearing loss. Researchers discovered a protien called Neurotrophin-3 (NT3), which plays a key role in communication between the ears and the brain. Age and noise can actually interfere with this protiens production, which leads to hearing loss. These same researchers have developed a new drug that increases NT3 production, and in mice, their hearing was restored within two weeks. A drug for humans may still be several years away, but researchers are diligently working towards that goal. ow.ly/DdS0g
