According to bbc news; 67% of your gas bill goes on wholesale energy, supply costs and profit margin, 16% goes on distribution charges (surely thats the same as supply?) 6% goes on green levy (surely this tax has been paid at wholesale?) 5% is in vat (isnt this covered in wholesale? Could be wrong on that one) 4% goes on other (possibly overheads, but shouldnt that be in the 67%) and 2% goes on transmission which goes on maintaining the pipes. So out of the 100% I can see where 69% goes the levy and vat can be justified to an extent but the 16% on distribution is what gets me when supply of the energy is covered twice under a different title!
