According to operational data from the InfoResist group, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’AN-26 aircraft hit on June 5 over Sloviansk by terrorists, was shot by the latest Russian MANPAD, the Verba [Willow] 9K333. The plane was struck at a height of 4,050 meters [13,000 feet] by a 9M336 missile fired from this weapon. The rocket fragments are currently being examined by Ukrainian specialists. This MANPAD first began to be issued to units of the Russian army only at the end of May (barely a week ago). In early June, the first 9K333s showed up at the Zenith division of the 98th Airborne Paratrooper Division in Ivanovo Oblast. No other units or divisions of the Russian Armed Forces have been issued such MANPADS to date. The Verba 9K333 MANPAD is not currently available for export. Translation: Lidia Wolanskyj
