According to the Clarion Project, the Islamist Money in Politics - TopicsExpress

According to the Clarion Project, the Islamist Money in Politics survey took a look at the amount of money spent by Muslim groups to influence the congressional elections since 2008. It identified 11 candidates – nine of whom were Democrats, unsurprisingly – who received donations from Islamist groups this cycle. Also unsurprising was who the leading donor was – the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), widely seen as the leading Islamist advocacy group in America. CAIR, who was an unindicted co-conspirator in a major 2007 terrorist fundraising case, has been linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR was recently seen throwing a fit over an innocuous remark made by a U.S. general, made all the more funny by the fact that they booked Al Sharpton to headline their annual fundraising dinner. You know, the same Al Sharpton who’s said things like, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house,” and “We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.” (To be fair, the ancient Greeks have a pretty lousy lobby in Washington.) CAIR board member Esam Omeish has also been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas through various associations, and once stated that “the jihad way is the way to liberate [Palestine].” Omeish has donated over $17,000 personally since 2005. By far the top recipient of Islamist dollars is Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., which isn’t surprising as Ellison is the only serving Muslim in Congress. He received over $130,000 from four groups, including CAIR. Second was Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., and third was Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va. Connolly has been known for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood-led government in Egypt and has criticized the President for being insufficiently supportive of the Brotherhood. I append no comment. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and Rep. Mike Honda, D-Calif., also took money from Islamist groups. In addition, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., also took a small donation; Roberts had problems maintaining his seat in deep-red Kansas amid the perception that he was a RINO.
