Richland County sheriffs deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol pursued the suspect onto Rt 30, into Mansfield where The Mansfield Police Department became involved in the chase. The suspect left 30 by way of the 39 exit ramp where he was followed to 13 nb by way of Harker St, N. Mulberry St, and Longview Ave. The chase continued North on 13 toward 250, where police had spike strips set up, which the suspect vehicle, a white Chevy Impala, hit. The suspect travelled a short distance and stopped in the town of Olena just north of Fitchville after hitting the spikes. He then abandoned the vehicle and ran into a residence that was unoccupied by the residents at the time. Numerous law enforcement agencies, including the US Marshals, ASORT, and several Huron and Richland County units converged on the scene.
