Across Australia it is considered that an aim to have 17% of forest in each state protected is deemed an acceptable goal. In Tasmania, we have current reserves of approximately 50% of our land mass protected! Our forest practices are considered worlds best. One would think that Paul Harriss should be correct in not having any worries that FSC would be granted..........BUT...... Christine Milne was involved in the early days of FSC and has been quoted to say that No native forest will attain FSC certification As Dr Phil says, The best predictor of the future is the past. Has tearing up the TFA done any harm to our chances of attaining FCS? To this day, NO native forest products have been granted FCS ANYWHERE in Australia. You be the judge.... In the meantime, start up those chainsaws boys - there is STILL a market for our forest products! examiner.au/story/2603106/auditors-want-feedback-on-forest-schemes/?cs=95
