Activities this week (10.01.15 to 17.01.15) ***Annual Police firing of Shimla Police was held on 10th and 11th January 2015 at firing range Ashwani Khadd, Junga. 1100 policemen of all ranks of Shimla police ranging from Superintendent of Police to constable took part in this event.*** *** As part of our move against thefts and burglaries in the district and ensuring security of the Temples, SOs and SDPOs are holding meetings with local people and committee members of temples. In this sequence, Sh. Sandeep Dhawal, Addl. Superintendent of Police (Rural), Shimla holded meetings with the committee members of Shri Pandohi Devta Mandir Dharogra, Shiv Kaleshwar or Sunni Devta Graon and Kurgan Devta Mandir Mandhodghat Sunni while Sh. Bhajan Dev Negi, Addl. Superintendent of Police (City), Shimla holded meetings with the committee members of Sankatmochan Temple, Tara Devi Temple and Kali Mata temple Jutogh.** ***Key points of discussion in these meetings being installation of Alarm locks, CCTV cameras, photography & videography of idols, enlistment of property of the temples, fencing of the premises, deployment of chowkidars and information sharing regarding any suspects in the area with the police.**** *** Shimla police wished Happy Lohri to the children rescued by the AHTU, Shimla at present residing at Kasturba Gandhi Orphanage Home by distributing sweets and clothes amongst them.*** *** Meeting for reviewing the security scenario in the Banks and ATMs was convened on 12.01.15 in the conference hall of Hotel Combermere, Shimla. The meeting was attended by Sh. Balbir Jaswal, Dy. Superintendent of Police (City) Shimla, SHOs of all 6 urban police stations of Shimla including First Women Police Station, New Shimla, In-charges of all their subordinate police posts and 68 representatives from different banks situated in Shimla.*** *** CCTV cameras have been installed in the old bus stand to check the traffic jam, now, the driver causing the jam shall be challaned.*** *** Shimla traffic police has observed this week (11.01.15 to 17.01.15) as traffic safety week. During this week awareness was spread through pamphlets regarding traffic regulations. Shimla police also gifted flowers to the drivers and conductors wearing uniforms as a token of recognition to their law abiding nature and challans were issued to the drivers who were not wearing the uniforms etc.*** ***As part of our drive against the Drug Mafia, shimla Police has nabbed an accused with 3 bottles of Correx and 200 capsules and case FIR No. 19/15 PS West has been registered in this regard. *** **1130 challans under MV Act were issued to offenders during this week and Rs. 1,46,400/- collected as fine. 8 challans under towing head with imposition of a fine of Rs. 15,170/- and 6 challans under clamping head with fine of Rs. 1200/- has also been imposed to keep Shimla congestion and jam free.** **40 FIRs have been registered in Shimla district under different heads of crime during this week.** ** Police is making best efforts to keep the traffic through in the fresh snowfall at Kufri and higher reaches.**
