Actually, Jim, the scientific evidence admits nothing more than there remains a significant divide as to the date of the shroud and the means by which it was created. The article states that, Further radiocarbon dating tests conducted in early 2013 by Padua University scientists established that the Shroud was likely made somewhere between 280 B.C. and A.D. 220, which is around the same time many Christians believe Jesus walked on Earth. While there was a study conducted by a researcher at Padua in 2013, there is significant question as to whether the researcher was using fibers from the shroud at all; the results being questioned by the custodian of the shroud himself. I find it amusing that some Christians, who would deny the value of any radiocarbon dating (not restricted to Carbon-14) in the context of proving an Old Earth model, would jump for joy at any such dating which might prove the shroud to be the burial cloth of Jesus. Not saying that Habermas would be of this group. Just making an observation. As for other claims made, pigments have been detected by some researchers, denied by others. Blood stains have similarly been accepted/rejected. The bottom line is this - the connection of the shroud to Jesus will likely, barring some scientific breakthrough, always be a matter of faith. This is not to say that we should give up in the attempt to make a conclusive determination, but it is also caution against making any sort of claims that It is without a doubt the burial shroud of Jesus Christ and the scientific evidence of it is overwhelming. At present, that is faith speaking, not science.
