Adam David Loop, 41, of Lexington, has been identified as the man who was shot to death by a Davidson County Sheriffs Office deputy Monday afternoon on the side of Interstate 40 in Iredell County. Authorities are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. The deputy, Sgt. Scott Culler, who has more than 20 years of experience, was transporting Loop to a mental health evaluation in Hickory when the two became involved in a struggle.
