#AddictionRecovery Its Christmas...and my life is a beautiful story of recovery...but I cant help but think of those who are still sick and suffering today... Someone is being fed the biggest lie right now...that they are beyond hope, worthless and doomed to live a life of forever searching for the next high, giving up everything thats important until they finally reach the place where theres no next move. Other friends have relapsed so many times they secretly wonder if there is truly a relief from the try and fail and work...work...work. Still others are using in secret. Filled with shame, guilt and denial...telling themselves they can handle their own business. No one needs to help them or know. No one really understands. If you relate to any of this...today is really all about you. Everyone else might be celebrating Christmas with food and gifts...but the day Jesus entered this world it was to seek and save those who are lost. He came for those who are in need of a Physician. He came to give the gift of His PRESENCE so we wouldnt have to try and fail anymore. For me...recovery was never about trying or motivation. Its not about finding my strength and thinking about all I have to lose...For me, after spending over a decade wrapped in the never ending cycle of try and fail...recovery is about one thing, surrendering to Jesus and His will for my life. Its about being weak and hiding in HIS strength. Its about falling apart and acknowledging that only the Great Physician can put the pieces back together. My best efforts resulted in a life of destruction and twisted up thinking. Today Im so thankful Ill never have to rely on myself again. My prayer is that youll find Him today...and begin your new life...bondage free. He will take your deepest pain and fears and exchange them for healing and peace. Ive never found that in a drink or a drug. ...For unto us a child is born. And He will be called Wonderful... Counselor... Mighty God... Everlasting Father...
