Admin, I am not sure whether this is allowed, if not, please delete. Just wondering for all those photographers and videographers that are full time in this business. how many weddings do you usually do a year to make a reasonable good living? I was just doing some maths in my head and it really doesnt add up. Say one wedding a week for 30 weeks because i cant imagine many brides during winter 3 months. Say at $3000 a wedding (which is probably too much for a beginner ) That is $90k- Gst = 81k. Now for a $3000 wedding, most will offer a 2nd shooter, so I guess you will at least pay $400 a day for one? So that is $12k gone, leaving you with 69k. There are expenses like insurance, equip maintenance, program, advertising costs min 7-10k a year(that is not even having an office). So you now left with around 60k. For my hubby who mainly interested in videography. You will need to pay around $100 for music licences and $100 for printing the DVD and blue ray covers (or for those who offer album), so another $6000 is gone. you now left with 54k. Super is 10% so now you have approx 49k before tax. where did i go wrong with my maths because any public service job is way better than this and you are working 6 days a week for 9 months of the year with no weekends and no social life?! When brides complaining it is costing too much for a photographers and videograhers, maybe you can show them my calculation and you are really doing it for the love, not the money? But maybe i am missing something? I am just puzzled. Thank you very much
