Adoption Update!! As Katie just posted (along with a very pink picture), weve finally finally got a match for adoption. We havent said much recently because the process has been somewhat, maybe not stressful but not without its difficulties. Weve had several potential matches come our way but each has either not been right, or just as we were about to go ahead has been taken away for one reason or another. Now we have a solid panel date though, so were confident enough to say something (and confident enough to paint a room). So what does this mean? Well, first we have a life appreciation day, which is a posh way of saying we get to meet everyone involved currently in the childs life; the foster carers, doctors, etc. Thats next Tuesday. On the 29th we have a panel date. If youve been keeping up with us and the process, this is similar to what we did around Christmas time, where we were interviewed by a room of 12 or so people who had read our file, to decide if we were suitable to be potential adopters. This time theyll have read our file and the file of the child, theyll have some questions for us no doubt but our social worker (and the childs social worker) are confident on the match, so were not particularly worried. Following panel theres a cooling off period of about 3 weeks (sort of like when you buy a mobile phone contract) and then we gear up to start the introductions process, which Ill leave to another long winded post. Also horribly impersonal as it sounds saying The Child, given the nature of social media Id rather not say names just yet. Feel free to pm me though if youre curious :)
