Adoption update: We are still in waiting mode, hoping to hear in the next week or two that we have an SDA appointment in Ukraine. Once we get that date, we will be getting ready to travel! I want to thank everyone for their prayers, and let those who dont already know that God is moving in bigger ways than we could even imagine. God has been preparing our hearts to not only bring M home, but his older brother and sister (I and M) as well. While three children was not our plan when we started this process, God has called us to a greater adventure! We do not know at this point if I and M want to be adopted, and they have the power to say yes or no, but we are willing if that is where the Lord leads. Orphans age out of the system at 16, and I cant bear the thought of that happening to any child. The statistics are not pretty. That said, we are still raising funds to help us cover in country expenses, including brining home two more children. We dont have the funds required, and are trusting that God who called us to this adventure will see it through to completion (Phil 1:6). If God is calling you to help financially, there are several ways to do so. 1. Tax-deductible donations can be made online through Network for Good here tinyurl/VanDevenderAdoption . Be sure to put VanDevender Family Adoption in the designation line so we get credit. Please be aware this method has a one month delay until the funds transfer to our adoption account, so that means a delay before we know the donation was made unless you tell us specifically. 2. If a tax deduction is not necessary, funds can be contributed through our PayPal account. This helps us greatly as most in country expenses are cash only.
