The Dept. of Defense maintains an operating and maintenance budget of $31.8 billion and yet cannot afford a fax machine? Furthermore, last year, the department backlogged over 1,000 overdue FOIA requests because their technology was so outdated and inefficient. MuckRock, a website that supplies Americans with government-related information, suggested the department move into the 21st century and use a free fax-receiving email service.
