No guarantee that the newly FCC-Approved Comcast/TimeWarner cabal will let anybody stream 4K content before they develop their answer to the new technology. Chances are that youll only be able to see the true potential of your new device if youre feeding it content from whoevers wire/fibre youre plugged in to. And youll probably pay through the nose for access. Not only do you have to upgrade your Netflix streaming to 4K, youll have to pay more for Comcast to stream it to you at acceptable data rates. Right now, average rural US broadband rates are around 6mb/s download, 0.5 upstream. (I pay for 3 down, and speedtest.net just told me I get 3.2 down and 0.6 up Right now, readily affordable (under $50/7 1gb/s connections) switches are available to run your whole wired local home network at 1Billion bits per second over ethernet. Add wireless (N) at 300Million for $20 and call it a router. Are you happy that the cabal will only let your 1000gb/second home network sip from their pipeline at 3? And then charge you $80 or more a month for that trickle? Boycott 4K and agitate for Net Neutrality! How much of the internet speed that youre paying for are you actually getting? speedtest.net
