Advice Needed - Please be nice with your comments. So my 7yo OTTB has been quite the medical nightmare for the past 2 years. We have dealt with colic, ulcers (2 major episodes) and an undiagnosed lameness that we isolated to his foot and resolved with a coffin joint injection. The last episode of ulcers started beginning of September. I got the green flag from my vet to start Canon back into work about a week ago. Due to my own crazy schedule, I havent had the time until Monday. So Monday I went to just lightly lunge him at walk/trot (vet said no canter for now due to the increase movement of stomach acid at the canter). When I lunged him he looked off on both sides. The lameness that we have been dealing with is in the right front, but he usually lunges sound to the right and lame on the left (the lameness was isolated to medial right front). When I lunged him on Monday he looked off on both sides. I am saying off cause it wasnt quite to the point of lame. Before I took him out of his stall, I did notice that he had some swelling in his left hind, which isnt that unusual after a period of time in his stall. I gave him a previcox (of course due to ulcers he cant have bute) on Monday night and yesterday when I trotted him out he looked better, but still not completely right. Anyway, I have a few questions. Could he just be body sore? It makes sense to me, cause honestly which the ulcer episode he was up and down and very uncomfortable for about 5 days. Hes had a year of on/off stall rest and VERY little work due to the lameness and ulcer situations. If he is body sore, should I go for chiropractics, massage or trying to just work him through this with light work? My concern with chiro and massage is that there will be need to keep going with it on a continuous basis (I understand I will need to prob do at least the initial visit and a follow-up). Money is a really big issue. I have spent a lot of money on this guy and havent really been able to keep him in regular work because of all his issues (and to be honest, some of my own physical issues). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
