Advice Please! Repost anonymous. I am 39 years old with twin boys and 2 1/2 year old daughter that I am still breastfeeding. We have pretty much been doing Natural Family Planning, trying to chart when I ovulate and use spermicide around the days I believe I am ovulating. About six months ago I started getting heavy periods occurring about every 16 to 21 days with some irregular bleeding thrown in. Also, other symptoms seemed to indicate low progesterone so spoke with my obgyn and went on progesterone pills for a few months then went to a wild yam cream to help regulate that out. It all worked pretty well until I got pregnant on a night we didnt use spermicide then had a miscarriage at about 5 weeks along. Now I just dont know what to do with regards to birth control. Since I dont know when I will be ovulating now and periods arent regular its hard to follow the Natural Family Planning route. The obgyn just keeps suggesting tubal ligation, or IUD, or the pill- which I am pretty much not willing to take the risks or side effects those suggestions have. I have heard of wild yam being used as a contraceptive but cant find too much in detail written about that. Does anyone have any suggestions for a natural birth control plan that will work around all my unknowns like ovulation or not knowing when my next period will be?
