Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist Location: East Patchogue, NY Job Code: 155 # of Openings: 1 Description Concern for Independent Living’s mission is to provide safe, affordable housing within the community to persons recovering from psychiatric disabilities. We are one of the largest housing agencies of this kind in New York State, currently serving approximately 600 individuals and families in over 200 locations. Concern offers a variety of housing and comprehensive services, delivered in a manner that is sensitive and allows our clients to live with dignity in the community. The Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance with HUD requirements pertaining to HUD 811 PRAC, HUD 202 PAC and Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Duties and Responsibilities: Adherence to all policies and procedures as set forth in Concern’s personnel manual. Monitoring changes in HUD/LIHTC regulations and requirements and implementing changes as indicated. Maintenance of tenant files in compliance with regulations. Determination of financial eligibility for all new admissions into HUD- or LIHTC-funded programs. Processing all Move-Ins and Move-Outs, Annual and Interim Re-certifications and Unit Transfers in accord with HUD 4350.3 requirements. Management of EIV system information as per HUD regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. Preparation of re-certification notification letters in compliance with HUD/LIHTC regulations. Submitting for special claims as needed. Monitoring waitlists for compliance with HUD regulations and requirements. Knowledge of Federal Fair Housing Law and Americans with Disabilities Act. Annual training in these areas is required. Attendance at all trainings as required (including Essential Learning.) Successful completion of Assisted Housing Manager and LIHTC training, including a passing score on the exam. Attendance at weekly supervision meetings and departmental meetings as scheduled. Development of a HUD training module for SHO Staff. Requirements: Individual in this position should possess strong organization skills and a detail oriented approach. Must have Yardi experience. Strong computer literacy skills are essential to this position. Knowledge of HUD requirements and accounting experience is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required. Experience and/or education in working with people with disabilities is a plus.
