African Presidents Vs Poverty. And so i listened to the news of my President, GEJ, threatening to sue the publishers of the news that declared him the 6th richest African President. While i am not against his freedom to sue and be sued, i sincerely feel our GEJ lacks the moral and locus standi to threaten such actions; shebi he said he doesnt give a damn? Wait, but why did oga Jona not publicly declare his assets to Nigerians? Who knows, we may have fought on his behalf regarding this one. Well, thats just by the way. as we were taught then...My main purpose of writing this letter (you failed English in Junior WAEC if you never wrote this) is to relay the connection between African Presidents and POVERTY. A quick one... Robert Mugabe – Net Worth: $10 Million Country: Zimbabwe, Years in Power: 26 Idriss Deby – Net Worth: $50 Million Country: Chad, Years in Power: 23 King Mswati III – Net Worth: $100 Million Country: Swaziland, Years in Power: 28 Paul Biya – Net Worth: $200 Million Country: Cameroon, Years in Power: 31 Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo – $600 Million Country: Equatorial Guinea, Years in Power: 34 Jose Eduardo dos Santos – Net Worth: $20 Billion Country: Angola, Years in Power: 34 Source: Richest Lifestyle The question is, are there no other individuals in these Countries that can bring in fresh idea of what leadership entails? Lest i forget, GEJ was ranked 6th, valued at $100 Million. Now Imagine if oga Jona rules for 20 years....walahi Nigeria would by then have been sold. As these our African leaders grab and hold on to power, preventing fresh ideas, they continue to make Africans wallow in poverty. The gap between the Elites and the masses in Africa is just too wide...it is up to the upcoming generation of leaders to bridge it if we do not want this Continent torn apart...it is time to bridge this gap if we do not want the bush meat to start chasing the hunter someday....now is the time to act. God bless Nigeria.
