After New Year, I will do something else to change this school. I will put an instrument in the hand of every one of my seventy Grade 10 students and teach them to play it for the first time. In my classes, I have students who are almost virtuosos and others who have never played a note. They will see that making music is not for the privileged or the talented, it is the opportunity of a lifetime for all kids to really experience joy in creativity. The only way I could do it is to introduce a ukulele programme, so be it. These kids have sat through boring music classes since they were little and they trust me now. I taught them to rap, I taught them to sing Christmas Carols and I am ready to take it up a notch. I have prepared books to teach them already and they will be produced in a few days also. I am ready to change the world in which I live. I live in a city of 7 million people and I teach the most academically gifted children in the city. They are so full of passion and interest and I am ready to deliver. I am carrying on a legacy of greater music teachers before me. Thank you David, Monte, Karlin, and Norman for inspiring me with a passion for sharing the love of music. I am excited, invigorated, and ready to roll!!! If I attract a lot of children to study music in IB next year from this group, I have changed a cultural tendency to reject the Arts in favour of academic pursuits. At this stage, it looks like I will win. Last year, three (3) students chose Music. At the moment, 40 out of 70 are saying they will take it as a subject if their parents will accept it. Lets change the world!!!! I intend to fill the school grounds with kids playing ukuleles and people will see that Music is a subject worth believing in. You know I will do it, right, Nisachon? These kids here are very expressive... Once this cold winter passes, I am going to have some awesome Spring photos to share with you. :D At the same time, I will be preparing the Wizard of Oz. So exciting!!!!!!!!!!!
