After a great trip visiting the crew down in Tehachapi and Bakersfield Bubba marleysmutts.org/about-bubba/ and Paloma are getting back to the normal routine of exercise, boundaries, and affection... Those three things lead to some amazing results. for example, Paloma graduated last week from the SF SPCA Animal Assisted Therapy program and is happy to start her new role in providing love and kindness to the people of the San Francisco community. We can now add her to the list of Rescued Dogs, Rescuing People! Bubba is in line next and in the next two months he will start his training for this program as well. This is so cool for so many reasons. First, both of these dogs were on the short track to exit this world. Both dogs are members of a group that is wrongly judged and thought to be everything but Therapy Dogs as a result of their physical appearance. Most importantly both dogs are loving, kind, and energetic about making friends and disproving the media induced fear that this breed is nothing more than a killing machine. Breeds are not bad; people are bad and have the ability to make dogs behave in an undesired way. Simple logic that escapes so many... Well these two and so many other members of the Mutt Militia are on a quest to change the public image and misconceptions regarding the bully breeds. Here our not so little helpers are enjoying a pause from the morning run with the SF Bay Bridge in the background and later in the day Paloma striking a pose while visiting residents of an assisted living complex in SF. Nothing was more delightful than to see how she lit up when receiving love from this amazing couple and how they lit up when she would come rest her head on their laps. They were visibly sad when it was time for Paloma to leave. Talk about breaking down walls and demolishing stereotypes!!! Enjoy the day Mutt Militia!
