After a two hour phone conversation, I now have more expensive, higher deductible insurance, with an HMO instead of my previous PPO. Did I mention that I also had to sign up for primary care doctors who I dont even know, and drop my other doctors? If I had chosen an option similar to me previous coverage, I would have had to pay double, and well over $1,000 a month, and Im not talking about Cadillac coverage either. Also, I asked about a few of the finest doctors and surgeons in Houston, and arguably the world, to see if theyre on the plan. Nope. I asked because my profession gives me the inside scoop as to who is the best in town (since its Houston, best in town is pretty much best globally). I also asked the man helping me about the experience of other clients that he helps daily. Most all people have an increase in their premiums. Ive already been on the healthcare.gov sight, and Ill shop around in the coming weeks to see if I can do better. The man helping me is very doubtful that Ill find anything. I just needed to secure coverage for now. Its too bad none of our law makers could come up with something better. Im done now. Ill keep it positive for the next few months.
